Recomp
Pick a file, see its size, choose how small.
Built, and with Apple for review
Recomp makes files smaller, and that is the whole job. Pick any file and it shows you two numbers: how big it is now, and how big it will be. Choose a target, under 10 MB for Discord, 16 MB for WhatsApp, 25 MB for email, or any size you like, and press one button.
What it shrinks properly
- Videos with hardware accelerated re encoding aimed at your exact target size, plus a force it smaller mode when every megabyte counts
- Photos, JPEG and HEIC, compressed to a size you choose
- PDFs, with text kept sharp where possible
- GIFs converted to tiny MP4s that still autoplay everywhere
- Audio as AAC at the size you need
And everything else
Any other file, documents, spreadsheets, project files, gets zipped. Pick several at once and they become one tidy archive.
Honest by design
Recomp tells you before it starts if a format has to change, such as PNG to JPEG, and tells you afterwards exactly how much you saved. If something could not hit your target it says so, with no invented numbers.
Private by design
Everything happens on your device. No uploads, no account, no tracking and no subscription. Files you compress never leave your phone.
Recomp is coming
It is built and with Apple for review. It will appear here the day it lands.
